Prayer Walk

11th Feb, 2007

Sunday evening at 7pm, around 35 concerned local Christians from various churches met for a Prayer Walk around our community prompted by the current mills crisis. Many others who were unable to make it promised to pray in their homes at the same hour. The Ministers’ Fraternal organised the event to give the churches an opportunity to show their solidarity with our mill workers and to pray for every section of our community affected by the potential job losses. An Auspine employee who was present said he was grateful for the prayer support shown to the workers especially. The mayor was also present representing the council, as well as local business people whose livelihoods are threatened by the potential loss of the mills.

The group moved from the main street, where they prayed for Auspine employees, to the council chambers, where prayers were offered for local, state and federal governments in their involvement in the current situation.

After that we prayed at the high school for our schools, teachers, and families, and then to the recreation grounds to pray for local sporting clubs.

The walk concluded in Victoria Street with prayers for the business sector.

The Ministers’ Fraternal would like to thank all those who took part and assure the Auspine workers especially that we will be praying for you in our churches every week during this difficult and anxious time.
