Exploring the Future Together

28th February, 2006. In a historic meeting and display of unity in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, over 80 Dorset Christians from seven denominations gathered for prayer and conversation at St Barnabas Church hall. The 'Conversation' was chaired by Peter Partridge. Members of the Anglican Church shared their vision for their restructured parish ministry, based on less reliance on paid stipendiary workers and more localized team ministry reflecting the biblical principle of the Priesthood of all believers, and asked for the support and prayers of the rest of the Dorset Christian community. Members of other churches then spoke and encouraged the Anglicans in their desire to seek God's will for their parish, and shared their ideas for how each church can contribute in their own special ways to the spread of the gospel and Kingdom growth. There was a desire unanimously expressed to explore ways of sharing ministry resources and engaging in joint outreach activities. The meeting closed with a time of prayer and a shared supper.
